The Universe is winking at you, are you paying attention?

Ever see the same numbers repeatedly, all around you? Ever check the phone at the exact same time everyday? Ever have dreams revolving around the same numbers? Don't worry, you haven't lost your marbles nor is it something to be totally ignored. And congratulations, the universe is winking at you!

This powerful phenomenon is referred to by Carl Jung as "Synchronicity" and can be simply explained as meaningful coincidences.

He calls these occurrences "acausal events" and his work on this was a major blow in the way of science. One of the foundational principles of science, especially classical physics is "causality" i.e. there can be no event without a cause. For instance, if a ball is accelerating through a football field, there HAS to be a force that has caused it; the ball cannot fly on its own. However, the occurrence of nuclear decay is a notable challenge to this concept. There is no reason whatsoever why a nucleus of Uranium-235 would spontaneously, with no trigger at all, burst and undergo fission into neutrons and smaller atoms. Phenomena like these have found better explanations in new-age physics, especially certain interpretations of quantum physics, such as the Copenhagen interpretation, and this in turn has made way for entertaining and explaining acausal events.

Physics aside, these repeated occurrences that happen around us, can be understood and experienced very simplistically as a state when your mind and spirit is in tune with or "synchronized" to the collective unconscious and you start receiving signs and communications from the universe a.k.a cosmic downloads.

Most often, this happens unconsciously, with no effort on our part and hence could go unnoticed. But once you take cognizance of this phenomenon, you can tap into its sublime and elegant nature to bond with the universal energy for direction, guidance, and confirmations on your journey in life.

I personally first experienced this a few years ago towards the end of my master's studies. I would unknowingly check my phone at the same time every day. Every morning, whether I was in a lecture, driving or at home, I would glance at my phone and there it was - 09:11. I got a little irritated initially but was sufficiently attuned to my intuition to know that if this has happened so frequently, it was something beyond coincidence.

Of course, I did what we do in this day and age; I googled it. Ran a search saying "Seeing 911 everywhere" and of course a plethora of results emerged. This is when another tidbit of knowledge came my way; I was introduced to the "Law of Attraction". I will definitely write about this later. For now, it's sufficient to say that it means either consciously or otherwise, we attract / can attract things in our life by putting sufficient energy to a thought.

It is worth mentioning that this was also a phase in my life where I was planning on taking some big steps on the career front with a lot of enthusiasm and passion, albeit with slight trepidation as well. I was investing much of my energy on certain things which mattered immensely to me with no regard to whether I would be able to accomplish what I was planning, at all. As with everybody, I had my doubts but I wasn't paying too much attention to that. This is when 911 started appearing to me everyday.

I later discovered, 911 is commonly associated with the end of a cycle (9) and beginning of a new one in your life (11). It is a message saying you are ready to move on with your life, to take the next step and that you should trust that things will unfold to your plan. How apt! These were meaningful coincidences indeed! I don't know how, but the higher energies, the universe, was sending this message to me as this was what I needed to hear the most at that time. It is tremendously gratifying and grounding to experience something of this nature.

To be completely honest I should mention that me being a human of logic and rationality, skepticism kicked in like a knee-jerk reflex at first. I wanted to test my theory again, find scientific proof of it's existence and basically be a classic disbeliever. But the universe provided that too. I came across the work of philosopher scientists like Carl Jung and Nikola Tesla who have studied these matters extensively and also read up a bit on quantum physics. I was content.

After all this time, I now know better. I know that some things are to be trusted as they are revealed to us and more importantly, that intuition needs to be given precedence over all logic. This sublime connection with the universe has become a part of my everyday life and I strive to strengthen and nurture it continuously. It has provided me direction and comfort in everything I do, big or small, from the most unpredictable and unforeseeable circumstances to mundane decisions of everyday life.
